Longer emails have to get approved by human eyeballs. This can cause a
48 hour delay, esp. on weekends. Quite a number of people have
interfaced AIML with different robot designs. It is just a question of
parameter passing. The answer is certainly yes. But robot hardware is
not my thing.
I believe animation 'Avatars' are much more cost effective and flexible
for experimental purposes. At least one person I know of has done much
of what you propose, a PC based 'command & control' workstation. Speech
to text is ready for you via Nuance's "Dragon naturally speaking".
There are also a number of computer agent voices to choose from. XP
and Vista have text to speech built in. (Buy a voice, MS SAM is
dreadfull) Finding Indonesian will be all but impossible; I recommend
you try a British female or Indian female English voice. Very pleasant
and clear to listen to. You will need to gain a fair knowledge of three
different software systems and how to interface them. Google 'chatbot
avatars' for examples. One example is at Haptec.com and another is
'Joan' of Jabberwacky.com If you are lucky, you can buy, borrow STT
--> chatbot --> TTS code from one of the avatar developers. If you are
already a good programmer, possibly you could do this from scratch in a
month, full time. This does not include building the chatbot knowledge
base. ON this perhaps you could find a finished "PC commander" or "PC
helper" chatbot KB on the internet.
