Hi, I bought Virtual Dog in SL that will roll over, guard, heel etc. But I
also bought a bot that uses Alice and gave it the same name as my dog. So
the chatbot and the dog are both called Doggie. So you get the illusion that
you are chatting to the dog that you can also tell to bark ...hehe.
The neat thing about the chatbot is that you can ask it to search SL for
things and places, and very neatly you can ask it to search Google, and
other databases. After searching google eg for Hanging Rock, Woodend, it
comes up with list of tourist things and accommodation etc. Sometimes the
answer is clear and sometimes not very. It also does the usual conversation
replies when you ask favourite colour etc.
You could have gone play with it until recently but the powers that be on
the island have removed it-.I could ask if I can put it in a corner of RMIT
DSC Island so you could play with it, if any of you ask.
The chatbot is made by CGe Technologies' "Extrems Brock" whose shop is at
CGe Tower, Nangrim (131, 167, 76) in SL.
The virtual dog is The Virtual Dog was created by, and can be purchased
from, Quintrix Barbosa......http://slurl.com/secondlife/Citrago/226/134/71

I have read that the Sony version of S.L. will allow for much more detailed
control of the avatars, such as facial expressions, and audio physics (sound
direction and distance) I have been anticipating such a development
eagerly; I want to add emotion processing to the AI, such as audio voice
analysis, and emotion simulation on the output side. Ideally emotion
analysis will also add to the efficiency and accuracy of the decision tree
processing in the general AI. For the voice analysis, the mathematics have
already been worked out by several companies that I know of; the trouble is
it is proprietary and they want big bucks to license it. The development of
an emotion database, and input sensor integration are major steps to gaining
an "actor bot" capability. My bot is unremarkable right now, but from the
start I've been preparing it's data base for emotion processing.

French-speaking AIML bot on pandorabots.com
This summarizes what we know about Second Life bots, published in the A.I.
Foundation News in March, 2007:
SecondLife Round-Up
There is a lot of activity around AIML and SecondLife these days. We are
in the process of collecting links to all the projects. SecondLife
provides its own scripting language, Linden Scripting Language (LSL),
which makes possible various interfaces to AIML bots. All the work is very
much in progress. We hope to have an interface through Pandorabots one of
these days soon. At least two SecondLife bots on sale are already backed
up by Pandorabots.
You can easily find bots or gadgets in SLBoutigue if you are registered
for SecondLife.
Here is the collection of SecondLife AIML projects we have found so far:
1. Here is one project attempting to implement AIML directly in Linden
Scripting Language: LindenAIML: (AIML parser written in LSL)
http://sourceforge.net/projects/lindenaiml/
2. And another ALICE in SL:

3. Seneca Enterprise

3
There is a demo bot whose shape is a black and white ball bots which
listens and talks to you on channel 0. If you have Secondlife installed
and have your browser knows secondlife:// MIME type simply use this map :
http://slurl.com/secondlife/Minoa/9/141/101/ to teleport in.
4. Metaverse Technology (also mentioned the the AI Foundation Newsletter
last year)
http://www.slboutique.com/index.php?p=buy&phrase=bot&n=13&itemid=118359
Map location: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Big%20Mushamush/113/237/132/
Navillus Batra (SL name) or Jacob Sullivan (RL name) at Metaverse Tech
sells series of bots and modules.
