[pandorabots-general] recognize feelings & responding to seriousdangerous talk.

The most popular tool to create new AIML categories in Pandorabots uses the
log files as input. This is a reactionary type of training and is frankly
inadequate for covering situations like this that require a well designed
solution.
For example one could use the key wording system:
KEY WORD
_ KEY WORD
KEY WORD _
_ KEY WORD _
This is a very crude system and to be frank it is also very inadequate for
this particular situation. It should only serve as an example that there is
more to AIML then punching in the individual sentences combinations.
In all fairness, unless your chatrobot has been designed to specifically
talk to people with mental issues, the chance of this subject seriously
being discussed would be slim.
Kind regards,
Anne.

If a visitor brings up such a serious subject as 'being suicidal' or
'wanting to kill', then I think there is a ethical obligation to flag such
dialog for human review. The problem is false positives. This problem
must have been encountered before, I would think some bots may have a
dedicated subsystem for dangerous talk that needs to be flagged. Can any
one expand on this, or provide code samples??

Just post new answers to your questions regarding feelings in the training
of your bot...

It is certainly possible to create categories in AIML that deal with this
situations. However, I think that you are using the free downloadable
A.L.I.C.E. AIML set. This already contains a large number of categories and
you might need to change a couple to obtain the result you deisired.

Anne.

is there a way i can make my bot recognize some feelings as "bad" and others
as "good." i run into a problem when a client says "im feeling suicidal" and
the bot replys "wow its nice to meet someone whos suicidal" or "im glad your
feeling suicidal" ect. is there AIML i can use to make the bot know what
sort of feelings should be replied to in that fashion and which should not?
thanks
