[pandorabots-general] Voice recognition

I have been able to pipe scripted output from a bot server as text through
festival to generate speech in raw audio output as well as mp3. In terms of
an animated icon...well that probably isn't as hard as I am thinking right
now. Voice recognition on the windows platform works differently than it
does with linux. I have my linux server configured to launch commands from
speech but the way that works is I have to pre-record WAV files of my own
voice. Those are then periodically compared to raw input from the
microphone. If you set up the lesson plan to first cover the pronounciation
of words before using them in context we could make a recording while they
are learning the the words and compare it to a known "good" recording to try
and generate an "allow" message to proceed to the next lesson only if the
recorded file matches within a certain percentage of our "good" recording.
Then when the animated character begins speaking to them the input from the
mic will be compared to the previous recording (theirs) to generate speech
output. (whew!)
