Hi Scott,
If you are using notepad, maybe you'd like to try AIMLpad? It has dialogs
designed to enter the AIML and put it into the notepad. Of course it can do
much more. For example, you can use a speech-to-text program (like Dragon
Naturally Speaking) and in AIMLpad set up the MS Agent to do the
text-to-speech so that you can just talk to AIMLpad and it will write the
categories. That is much, much easier than pounding those keys to get
<category><pattern>. etc. As an added bonus, it can use custom tags to set
the emotions of the bot or save ideas in a simple agenda to feed back into
the conversation or lookup answers on the internet. It even has a script
processing language that will query websites to make categories for jokes
and thoughts of the day, etc. www.AIMLpad.com <http://www.aimlpad.com/>
has a free download and some tutorials. It is only an AIML editor after all
- a notepad with some goodies added.
Cheers,
Gary Dubuque, wondering if the OLPC movement could use a playmate

Hi John,
I am working with applications of AIML in Second Life. I'm using AIML to
create conversational agents for teaching students about gathering
information for system development activities such as task analysis,
structured analysis & design, OOA&D, and requirements analysis. I've been
working on this for awhile, but it looks like NSF is going to fund a piece,
perhaps as early as next month (I'm thrilled!).
I'd like to "talk" to your sims, if you can give me some inworld names.
The AIML editor of which Bhoecht @ ai-dealer.com spoke is very interesting
to me, since I'm still using Notepad (or AIML Fox when I feel like messing
with it). (Hint, hint)
Regards,
Scotto.

I'll donate use of my company's AIML Editor for a link back from your site
under partners + marketing credit for my company + the
Ai-Foundation/Alicebot.
It has a couple of bugs, but there are workarounds for them. It sure beats
using wordpad.
Email me with your agreement. Bhoecht @ ai-dealer.com

I'd be interested in hearing from any others who are working with
applications of AIML in Second Life. As a long-term AIML user and a
full-bore, two+ SL addict, I'm researching the use of AIML specifically for
educational opportunities in SL. I have three personal sims in-world and am
just now developing some intelligent personalities to host various
locations.
Thanks for any responses...
