[pandorabots-general] New AIML Editor seeks Beta Testers

And not to over-promise the state of Editor, I do want to convey
that it is a new product and has not been extensively tested
beyond our own purposes at Ai-Dealer. We think it is quite good,
but the field of AI and AIML is expansive. The Editor will not
be everything to everyone who has ever dabbled in Artificial
Intelligence and we will not be "darkening the skies with
developers" for custom requests.

Actually, one of the roles of the panel will be to develop a
forum, process and methodology for continued standard setting and
evaluation and expansion of the Alice AAA AIML data set,
reorganization of it for creation of additional and custom
personalities and capabilities beyond that of Alice.

Many hands (especially when it is the hands of the best of the
best) make for quick results when applied to a daunting amount of
work. That is the second purpose of the panel. Dr. Wallace has
carried the torch largely by himself long enough.

At Ai-Dealer, we did not set out to commercialize the
distribution, sales and support of an AIML Editor. It just sort
of happened because we needed it for our primary applications and
somehow I've let Dr. Wallace talk me in to this wider
distribution...

As a "Business of Character" we do NOT overstate what we are...

http://www.ai-dealer.com/Ai-Character.html

I do however, believe in the goals of this panel and think it
will be good for the industry we all enjoy and believe in.

At Ai-Dealer, we are a small, passionate start up company with
ambitious goals. So that it is said, we are specifically
limiting access to the Editor to the two groups in the panel
(likely no more than two groups of 10) so that we can handle the
support and can continue to enhance it as the requirements come
flooding in.

The first group is to contribute their sweat equity to the
execution of the effort of the task at hand - defining, creating
and implementing AIML and AI best practices, revamping the Alice
AAA data set, forging a deep, recognizable synthetic personality,
a relevant business purpose, publishing all of this for the
advancement of AI, etc. Panel members will get access to the
beta version of the Editor in exchange for their efforts. We
really can not handle the entire AI community yet (sorry). For
this panel, we are looking for the very best bot-masters and
those with passion for this cause who feel they have unique
capabilities and the time to contribute so as to be effective
team members.

If the first group doesn't sound like you, here is a specific
call to action. As a panel, we need additional examples beyond
that of my company where we can point the media and business
community to where the implementation of AI and adjacent
technologies has redefined the human-to-machine interface.
Obviously this second group is more limited since the panel
exists to promote the creation of this as an industry. Chat bots
do not qualify as the media and business community consider them
little more than a gimmick or novelty. Unless they generate a
demonstrable revenue stream or verifiable lift in revenues...
then we'll reconsider. This second group also gets access to the
Editor for a modest fee before our expected 2007 commercial
release (for a considerably higher fee). While Ai-Dealer is a
for-profit entity, we've priced the Editor for this panel group
quite modestly because it is good for what the panel is trying to
achieve. We'll also use the little bit of money this brings in
to fund the expenses for us to participate on the panel and flesh
out the capabilities of the Editor so when everyone gets access
in 2007 we can support the community the way we believe you
deserve to be supported.

Participation on the panel is by invitation only. If you are
interested and somehow we are unaware of who you are or we missed
you (the field is artificial intelligence not clairvoyancy),
please forward your request to Dr. Wallace or me along with which
group you are interested in and why you are relatively uniquely
qualified to participate. We expect to be up and running by
June.

If neither of these groups sounds like you, you are still welcome
to follow along. Everyone will have access to the work of this
panel through the AI-Foundation. We are doing this for the
advancement of the field and the Editor will be available in two
versions in 2007 - a basic version for hobbyist bot-masters and a
commercial version (hooks to website, eCommerce and applications
and databases, system tags, emotive TTS, embedded avatar
commands, etc.).

I like all of you look forward to the panel's results and
improved respect that the field of AI deserves.

How many times have you wished for the killer AIML editor app?

It has arrived.

Brian Hoecht and his team at AI-Dealer.com have developed what I
consider to be the killer app for AIML editing. Basically the
tool
has three tabs. The first tab is like a combination of a
Spreadsheet
and a data entry/edit form for patterns, thats and templates.
You can load
a huge number of AIML categories from multiple files and sort
them by
pattern, that, topic, template, file, or original order. This is
absolutely the best tool I have seen for managing a large AIML
set.

The second tab displays how your AIML will look in XML format.

The third tab is a lifelike avatar to test the AIML you've edited
and
created.

Of course, you can save the AIML and export it to your favorite
AIML
interpreter (Program D, E, J, M, N, P, Q, R, Pandorabots etc.)

AI-Dealer and the AI Foundation have come to an agreement to
invite a
small core group of expert AIML developers to beta test this
Editor

It is an invitation only and an all volunteer group. We are
trying to
assemble the best minds in the industry to show the media and
business
community how far the world of AI has advanced in the past few
years.

The goal is to create working examples of a redefinition of the
man-to-machine interface by:

1) Defining and implementing AIML best coding practices
2) Reworking these across the ALICE AAA code base
3) Creating a deeper and synthetic personality for a
photo-realistic
avatar with a purpose and a life-like TTS
4) Having some fun and gaining some notoriety in the process.

I hope you choose to join us. Please contact me or
bhoecht at ai-dealer.com to discuss.

The new AIML editor is truly a killer app for advancing AIML
development.

Rich
